About RDMBA

This platform is used by Biological Anthroplogy at Freiburg University to manage research data from their projects. Most data are only accessible to the department staff and collaborators. Data sets that are intended for public distribution can be viewed and downloaded by anyone, even without registering a user account.

Please read the user manual to learn what you can do with RDMBA.

RDMBA (Research Data Management Biological Anthropology) has been developed from 2013 to 2015 and is currently running in test mode, until the end of 2015. Then, Biological Anthropology will evaluate the data deposited during the test phase and decide on the system's future. See the RDMBA project for further information about the development of RDMBA.

How To Access Restricted Data

If you are working on one of the projects managed through this platform or if you have an agreement with a researcher in Biological Anthropology at Freiburg University to share a data set, please take the following steps to gain access to restricted data:

  1. If you are not yet a registered user of RDMBA, open an account by clicking 'register' in the upper right corner of the user interface.
  2. Send an email to the project administrator. To find out who is in charge of specific projects, go to 'Projects', find the one you are interested in and go to the project's 'About' tab. Do not forget to give the project administrator your RDMBA user name.
  3. The project administrator will grant you the right to view or edit data sets in the respective project, which you will be able to access while being logged in to RDMBA.

How to create a Project

If you are working on a project within Biological Anthropoloy at Freiburg University that you would like to manage through RDMBA, please take the following steps to set one up and become its administrator:

  1. If you are not yet a registered user of RDMBA, open an account by clicking 'register' in the upper right corner of the user interface.
  2. Send an email to the site administrator, specified below under 'Contact'. Do not forget to give your RDMBA user name.
  3. The site administrator will set up a project for you and give you administrative rights.

Who should Register

Anyone can register with RDMBA. A user account will give you the opportunity to follow projects and groups you are interested in and generate a news stream, providing you with an overview of changes to public data sets in your areas of interest. However, you will not get access to data you would not see as an unregistered visitor.

Opening a user account only makes perfect sense for researchers working on one or several projects within Biological Anthropology at Freiburg University.
